Pastor Voigt was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota. He attended Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin earning a B.A. degree in Latin Classics, Greek, and Pre-Seminary Studies. He then attended the Concordia Theological Seminary, receiving a Master of Divinity Degree, and is presently working on a Masters degree of Sacred Theology.

Pastor Voigt served as a Vicar at Grace Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran, both small town churches in rural Nebraska. He spent his second seminary year at Westfield House, the theological school of Evangelical Lutheran Church of England, which is a LCMS partner. During his seminary years, he also spent time at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the inner city of Fort Wayne. He also spent some time in Israel on an archeological dig during the summer of 2019. He also continued on to serving as Associate Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bemidji, and Sole Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bagley, Minnesota.

Pastor Voight was installed as St. John's pastor on December 4, 2022.
